316 Stainless Steel Tank Installation – Chemical Site Upgrade

Project Overview

In October 2025, our Land Department delivered a major infrastructure upgrade for a chemical industry client. Director John Ward led the work, which involved removing outdated carbon steel tanks and installing new 316 stainless steel units. We operated on a live ATEX-rated site, which required strict safety and compliance protocols. We worked closely with subcontractors to coordinate crane operations and lug testing.

Objectives

Our project aimed to decommission old carbon steel tanks and pipework. We replaced them with a more durable and efficient 316 stainless steel system. This upgrade extended the tank farm’s operational lifespan and improved system performance. It also introduced modern installation techniques and high-grade materials.

Project Detail

We followed a structured and safety-focused plan. First, we completed pre-planning activities, including lifting plans, RAMS documentation, and lug testing. Then, we carried out full strip-out works and prepared the site for installation. Afterward, we installed the new tanks and upgraded pipework.

TTS managed the project throughout and provided one week of post-installation support to ensure smooth operation. We used 316L seamless Schedule 40 pipework. We X-rayed 10% of butt welds and pressure-tested 100% to confirm integrity. Finally, we delivered a full documentation package to ensure traceability and compliance on the live ATEX site.
