Product Transfer Line Replacement

Project Overview

The Land Department, led by Manager John Ward, delivered a major improvement project for a food supplier client over a five-week programme. The project involved replacing an ageing product transfer line with a new stainless-steel transfer system designed to supply multiple distribution points from a single source tank. This modernisation improved product flow, enhanced operational efficiency, and supported the customer’s growing production demands.

Objectives

The primary objective was to fabricate and install a new product transfer system capable of feeding multiple filling points based on consumer demand. The introduction of 3-inch and 2-inch stainless-steel lines enabled better flow control, allowing production teams to manage distribution more effectively across operational areas.

Project Detail

The project began with two weeks of fabrication and assembly, during which the engineering team constructed the new hygienic stainless-steel 316 pipework. The transfer line included fully welded 316 stainless pipework, hygienic food-safe ball valves, TIG welding with full purge routines, and a total of 18 metres of pipe. The build incorporated over 200 welds, multiple fittings, and six ball valves to complete the new system. Once fabrication was complete, the new system was assembled and installed onsite, integrating seamlessly with the customer’s production layout.
